Senator Banks Introduces Legislation to Improve Federal Benefits Access, Reduce Fraud
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, Senator Jim Banks (R-Ind.) introduced Timely Access to Benefits(TAB) Act. This legislation requires states to implement a real-time income verification system to detect unreported or underreported income for individuals receiving federal benefits. It applies to any federal program where eligibility or benefit amounts depend on income. The system must use automated data matching and applicant-permissioned bank data to reduce fraud, prevent improper payments, and ensure only eligible individuals receive benefits. House Democrat revives push to impeach Trump

Sen. Banks threatens federal grants to police over immigration raid compliance
Indiana U.S. Sen. Jim Banks said he’d consider withholding federal grant money funneled to the Indianapolis police department if the agency does not help carry out the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration. “My message to the police chief and others who want to block these efforts to deport illegals, especially those who are violent criminals, is that I’m exploring ways we can take away your federal grants that go to your law enforcement agencies if you don’t back up the federal government,” Banks said during the WISH-TV segment.
